Punjab Kings’ IPL 2024 season campaign was ended by Royal Challengers Bengaluru earlier today at Dharamsala after the host failed to chase down a mammoth 242 runs total, and stand-in captain Sam Curran was deeply disappointed.

PBKS were tasked to chase down 242 runs total against RCB after Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar’s onslaught propelled RCB to a prodigious total.

However, having chased down the highest T20 total this IPL season, PBKS had the belief before they kept losing wickets and eventually fell 60 runs short.

Meanwhile, PBKS stand-in captain Sam Curran was disappointed as PBKS’ playoff hopes were dashed out.

"Slightly frustrating and obviously disappointing. A lot of positive signs throughout but not enough to get over the line," Curran said.

However, Curran refused to excuse the change in leadership as a cause of potential distraction for him as well as the team.

"Wasn't a distraction (on taking captaincy mid tournament due to Shikhar Dhawan's injury) as we knew we had a talented group," he added.

But at the end of the day, Curran enjoyed leading in IPL and promised that PBKS would come out all guns blazing in the remaining matches to finish the season on a high.

Sam also apologised to the fans who were disappointed after the ugly loss against RCB.

"The guys will be gutted and we want to apologise to the fans who will be disappointed with the way our season has gone. Got to comeback stronger next year," PBKS captain said.

Sam Curran concluded that PBKS had a lot of positives to take from the tournament, especially the record run chase, and he certainly believes the sun will shine upon the Punjab Kings again next year.

Meanwhile RCB have moved to seventh place in the points table and are still alive in the IPL 2024 season playoff race.
