Aakash Chopra, a former Indian cricketer and present-day cricket commentator, has praised KL Rahul's consistent performance across all formats of the game. Although Rahul missed India's matches in the group stage of the Asia Cup 2023 due to a thigh injury sustained during IPL 2023, he is now set to make a comeback in the Super-4 stage.

Chopra, in a discussion on his YouTube channel, emphasized that there are very few cricketers who can excel in various batting positions and consistently perform well. He acknowledged that despite being an opener, Rahul possesses the versatility to bat in different positions while maintaining a high level of performance.

“It has been a topic of intense debate that why KL Rahul all the time - why does the Indian team remain so interested? Although he is an opener, he is among the very few versatile cricketers who can bat in other positions and are equally adept.”

Chopra further highlighted Rahul's impressive track record in all formats of cricket, noting that he is one of only five Indian batsmen to score centuries in Test, One-Day, and T20 cricket. Rahul's absence from important events like the World Test Championship final and tours to West Indies and Ireland was attributed to his injury.

“If you see from the Indian team's perspective, there are five players who have hit centuries in all three formats, which includes Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and KL Rahul. So KL Rahul is a player who has done well in all formats.”

From the perspective of the Indian team, Chopra also pointed out that there are only five players who have achieved centuries in all three formats, including Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, and KL Rahul. Consequently, KL Rahul is recognized as a cricketer who has consistently excelled in all formats.

Due to heavy rain in Colombo, Indian players were compelled to practice indoors at the Gamini Dissanayake Indoor Cricket Nets, Nondescripts Cricket Club, in preparation for the crucial Super-4 match against Pakistan.

The earlier group match between India and Pakistan had been abandoned due to rain before the second innings could commence. Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and others were seen practicing alongside KL Rahul ahead of the significant Super-4 encounter.
