With the constant threat of rain in the coming few days in Colombo, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) have confirmed that the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 Super Fours encounter between India and Pakistan scheduled for Sunday will have a reserve day.

The match is due to take place at the iconic R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, which has been witnessing non-stop rain for the past few days, which also forced the Indian squad to have an indoor session on Thursday.

The ACC also provided insights about playing conditions if the match is interrupted by rain and if the match continues on reserve day on Monday, it will continue from the point where the match was suspended.

The fans were also advised to keep the tickets intact, which will be used to enter the stadium on reserve day as well.  Interestingly, no other Super Fours match has been allotted a reserve day.

Here's what ACC stated

"A reserve day has been incorporated for the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4's match between Pakistan and India scheduled to take place on 10th September 2023 at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. If adverse weather suspends play during the Pakistan versus India game, the match will continue on 11th September 2023 from the point it was suspended."

Apart from this India-Pakistan tie, the Asia Cup 2023 Final has also been given a reserve day, given the forecast for thunderstorms for the upcoming week.

The Asia Cup Final will be played on September 17 at R Premadasa in Colombo.
