Pakistan T20I skipper Salman Ali Agha opened up on the World Cup chances after winning the T20I tri-series final against Sri Lanka on November 30. Pakistan won the match by 6 wickets while chasing 115 runs and was also dominant throughout the tournament.

However, after sharing his views on the Final win, Agha pivoted to the importance of World Cup and the prep the team is setting up ahead of the mega tournament in February.

Salman Agha lauds Pakistan's performance in tri-series

Speaking after the win, at the post match presentation, Salman Agha was happy with the team's performance.

"It feels great to get the job done like this. We’ve had a really good couple of months - first against South Africa and now against Sri Lanka in both ODIs and T20Is. There was that little setback in the previous game, but the way we responded today makes me really proud. We want to keep building on this and continue playing this kind of cricket in the future as well," said Salman Ali Agha.

Salman then went on to speak of the World Cup preparation prospects while stressing on the importance of having every player ready ahead of the ICC tournament.

"Looking ahead to the T20I World Cup, the main focus for us has been preparation and depth. We wanted to make sure we have a strong pool of players ready, not just the playing XI. You never know what can happen in a tournament like the World Cup, so giving everyone opportunities and keeping the bench ready has been important. I’m happy that whoever has come in has performed and understood their role," Agha said.

Salman drops massive hint on Pakistan's World Cup squad

Salman Agha also almost confirmed the squad for T20 World Cup 2026, saying that they are looking to go with the squad that played the Pakistan T20I tri-series.

"As for preparation, I feel we’re very close to finalizing those 15 players for the World Cup. We still have six games to go, so if there’s anything left to try, we’ll do it. But overall, I believe we are almost ready," Agha concluded.

Here's the squad that Pakistan played with in the T20I tri-series.

Abdul Samad, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Usman Khan, Hasan Nawaz, Salman Agha, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Wasim, Naseem Shah, Salman Mirza, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usman Tariq

If Salman Agha plans to go with this squad it means Babar Azam will be playing the World Cup event with a strong roster on board that also features Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan alongside Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi.
