Akash Deep will play for LSG in IPL 2025 [Source: @IPL/X]
In a significant development, experienced Indian fast bowler Akash Deep has declared himself fully fit for the upcoming IPL 2025 match between Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI). Notably, Akash Deep missed LSG's first three matches due to back injury.
Akash Deep Hopeful Of IPL 2025 Return In LSG vs MI Match
Akash Deep, who made it into the Indian Test side following a string of impactful performances in the domestic circuit, sustained a back injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year. The unfortunate injury prevented him from participating in LSG's first three matches of the ongoing IPL season.
However, the speedster declared himself fully fit for tonight's LSG vs MI encounter at the Ekana Stadium. He even revealed that he had played a practice game and would like to make a comeback to competitive cricket with the high-voltage affair.
“I’m feeling quite ready and am eager to play. I’m 100% fit and well-prepared to go as I’ve played one practice match. In cricket, when you get a gap of two-three months, no matter how much you practice, you don’t gain confidence until you play a match. I feel the first match (will be) very important for me," Akash Deep was quoted as saying by TOI.
Which Player LSG Could Drop If Akash Deep Returns To The XI?
If LSG's Rishabh Pant-led think tank decides to bring Akash Deep into the mix, Avesh Khan might make room for the ex-RCB pacer in the playing XI. Avesh has bagged a solitary wicket in two IPL 2025 matches while leaking runs at a poor economy of 10.71.
Therefore, if LSG consider revamping their pace battery, Akash Deep might replace Avesh, who has looked out of sorts so far in the tournament.
