England all-rounder Moeen Ali recently shared his thoughts on the growing popularity of his YouTube podcast Beard Before Wicket. The channel, launched on March 5, 2025, currently has 66.1k subscribers and 289 uploaded videos.

The podcast usually features Moeen Ali alongside England spinner Adil Rashid and Nubaid Haroon. With weekly episodes and appearances by several well-known cricket personalities, the show has become one of the most talked-about cricket podcasts on social media, known for its meaningful and open discussions.

Moeen Ali on growing podcast and Shakib's video

One of the co-founders, Moeen Ali, recently spoke about a viral episode featuring Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and also hinted at the possibility of inviting Tamim Iqbal in a future episode.

Speaking at a press conference, Moeen Ali, who is currently playing in the Bangladesh Premier League 2025-26 for the Sylhet Titans, revealed that the channel was not backed by any commercial sponsor at the time of its launch.

Ali said it was a personal initiative funded by himself, Adil Rashid, and Haroon. Moeen expressed satisfaction with the channel’s steady growth and said he was pleased with the quality of guests featured on the podcast.

“Maybe one year now. A bit longer, maybe. So the three of us decided to do podcast together and funded it together. It's been really good so far. We've had some really good guests on there,” Moeen said.

He was particularly appreciative of the discussions with Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and West Indies legend Dwayne Bravo.

“I'm sure you saw with Shakib there. It was excellent one. That was probably one of our best ones, him and Bravo. It's been really good. We got some more coming,” Moeen added.

Moeen Ali looking forward to invite Tamim Iqbal

While talking about Shakib, Moeen noted that the Bangladesh star was eager to be part of the podcast and needed no convincing. Continuing on the Bangladesh theme, Moeen also mentioned the possibility of inviting former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal to the show.

“I just asked him and he said, Yeah, of course. He was very keen to come. I've known him for a very long time. I didn't have to convince him. Just asked him. He was very interesting. He said he was coming on. We'd love to have him again. The other person we'd love to have is actually Tamim,” Moeen said.

“The timing has to be right. We asked Shakib because we knew he's going to be in Dubai. Well, we were in Dubai. So Tamim is somebody once we know we're in the same place as him, we'll definitely ask him,” Moeen explained.

What to expect on Moeen-Tamim meetup?

Moeen Ali’s interest in bringing Tamim Iqbal onto the podcast could be aimed at shedding more light on the ongoing Bangladesh-India tensions ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.

Notably, Tamim has been caught in the middle of controversy after a BCB director labelled him an “Indian agent” following his call for a calm and practical approach to the venue dispute.

Regardless of whether Tamim eventually features on the podcast, Beard Before Wicket has already hosted several high-profile names, including Indian star Dinesh Karthik, along with Freddie Flintoff, Kagiso Rabada, AB de Villiers, and Nicholas Pooran.
