Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will collide in the 62nd group-stage match of the ongoing IPL season. The high-octane face-off, which is of paramount importance for both teams, will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Washout Threat Over MI vs DC Clash As Rain Likely Play Spoilsport

However, in a development that wouldn't encourage their fans, MI and DC might have to satisfy themselves by sharing two points, with rain threat looming large over the much-awaited encounter

According to AccuWeather, the Mumbai sky will have a hundred per cent cloud cover, with the chances of precipitation being as high as 25 per cent. The IMD has issued a yellow warning for Mumbai tonight, so it won't be surprising if the game gets called off due to rain.

What If MI vs DC Gets Abandoned Due To Rain?

If the upcoming MI vs DC clash concludes in a washout, both teams will add one point each to their respective tallies. So, their positions in the points table will remain unaltered, with MI claiming the fourth place and DC occupying the fifth spot.

Both teams have their final group-stage encounter against Punjab Kings, a team that has already entered the playoffs with RCB and GT. If PBKS lose both of these games, MI will enter the playoffs.

On the other hand, if PBKS lose from DC but win against MI, the former will pip the latter and qualify for the next round. Meanwhile, even if DC win vs PBKS, MI's one victory from hereon will ensure their elimination from the competition.
