Pakistan have finally accepted the hybrid model for Champions Trophy 2025 after lot of deliberations and pondering, but the decision has not gone well with some of the members in PCB. The decision has not been welcomed by some of the former Pakistan cricketers as well, and the internal discontent among PCB members has been revealed by IANS.
The Champions Trophy is returning after a gap of seven long years and ICC had first granted complete hosting rights to Pakistan, the defending champions of the tournament. However, India refused to travel to Pakistan and it created a deadlock with PCB initially not agreeing to the hybrid model.
Pakistan Not Travel To India For T20 World Cup 2026
The Pakistan board has accepted the model now, but in return they will also not travel to India for the T20 World Cup 2026. Pakistan will also host a ICC women's competition after 2027, but some members feel that the compensation given to PCB is not good enough.
Rashid Latif, the former Pakistan wicketkeeper batter has raised his concerns on Pakistan's agreement for the hybrid model and there are members in PCB who don't want PCB chief to get carried away by ICC's tactics.
India were supposed to play all their matches in Lahore according to the initial schedule released for the Champions Trophy. However, they will now play all their matches in UAE and if India Qualify for the semis and final, those matches will be played in UAE as well.
