When it comes to the Indian Premier League (IPL), the motto is simple: go big or go home. Over the years, some batters have made the bowlers look like club-level rookies, smashing hundreds in no time.
And now we have got a 14-year-old teenager, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has set the cat among the pigeons with a record-breaking ton at just. On that note, let’s take a trip down memory lane to check out the top 5 fastest hundreds in IPL history.
5. Travis Head: 39 Balls
If there was ever a night where Bengaluru turned into a batter’s track, it was April 15, 2024. Travis Head went absolutely ballistic as he hammered a 39-ball ton for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Head tore the RCB attack to shreds as he smashed 9 fours and 8 sixes like he was playing backyard cricket.
SRH piled up a mountain: 287/3 and although RCB gave it a real crack, they fell 25 runs short. Head’s innings was one of those knocks where every ball seemed like a gift and he kept sending it into the stands.
4. David Miller: 38 Balls
David Miller was on a different planet when Kings XI Punjab faced Royal Challengers Bangalore at Mohali in IPL 2013. Chasing 191, Punjab were looking down the barrel when Miller walked in and said,
That’s when he smashed an unbeaten 101 off just 38 balls with 8 fours and 7 sixes, making the RCB bowlers wish the ground would swallow them up. Punjab chased down the target in just 18 overs and Miller’s knock still lives rent-free in every IPL fan’s head.
3. Yusuf Pathan: 37 Balls
Talk about a man who could swing a match in the blink of an eye. Yusuf Pathan did just that back in 2010. Rajasthan Royals needed a miracle chasing 213 against Mumbai Indians at Brabourne Stadium.
Enter Yusuf who belted a stunning century off just 37 balls by smoking 9 fours and 8 sixes. His hitting was so ferocious that even MI fans couldn’t help but applaud. Though Rajasthan eventually fell short by just 4 runs, Pathan’s innings was the stuff of legends, pure brute force mixed with the swagger only Yusuf could bring to the table.
2. Vaibhav Suryavanshi: 35 Balls
At just 14 years old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi etched his name into IPL history by smashing a 35-ball century for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans in Match 47 of IPL 2025. Opening the innings with aim to chase 210 run target, Vaibhav looked like a seasoned campaigner, treating GT’s bowlers with absolute disdain. He hit 7 fours and a sensational 11 sixes before falling for 101.
And if that wasn't enough, he also hammered the fastest fifty of the season in 17 balls. With a fearless attitude and shots all around the park, Vaibhav showed that age is just a number when you have got nerves of steel as RR cruised home by 8 wickets.
1. Chris Gayle: 30 Balls
And at the top, sitting like a king on his throne, is none other than Chris "Universe Boss" Gayle. On April 23, 2013, Gayle unleashed an innings that’s still talked about in hushed, awestruck tones. Playing for RCB against Pune Warriors, Gayle smashed a mind-boggling 175 not out off just 66 balls, bringing up his hundred in a mere 30 deliveries.
The Pune bowlers were just spectators as Gayle rained down 13 fours and 17 sixes with the ball disappearing into orbit every other minute. RCB posted an eye-watering 263/5, and Pune never even got close. It wasn’t just a knock; it was a demolition job that made fans and players wonder if Gayle was even playing the same sport.
