A massive pool of 277 players, including 194 Indians and 83 overseas stars, hustled for 73 coveted slots, setting the stage for some thrilling bidding wars.
With a mix of emerging talent and veteran internationals now in place, the WPL 2026 is set to showcase an electrifying cricket carnival. The season kicks off on 9 January, with Mumbai and Vadodara set to host the opening matches, promising packed stands and high-voltage drama from the very first ball.

3) Sophie Devine - 36 years, 2 months, and 22 days
The New Zealand veteran, born on 1 September 1989, Sophie Devine, is the third-oldest player to feature in WPL 2026. In the recently held auction, both Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Giants fought it out for Devine, and the player was finally sold to Gujarat Giants for a whopping 2 Cr.
Every season, the New Zealander lives up to her name. She has become one of the game's leading all-rounders, combining destructive batting with accurate pace bowling and has represented her country at field hockey before focusing solely on cricket.
2) Shikha Pandey - 36 years, 6 months, and 17 days
A name that has been in and around Indian women's cricket, Shikha Pandey, is the second-oldest player in the tournament's 4th edition. Born on 12 May, 1989, made headlines in the auction.
Once considered out of favour by selectors, Pandey spectacularly turned the tables, inciting a fierce bidding war between UP Warriorz and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. When the dust settled, UP Warriorz had secured her services for a jaw-dropping Rs 2.40 crore—twelve times her base price of Rs 20 lakh.
1) Shabnim Ismail - 37 years, 1 month, and 24 days
Born on 5 October 1988, the South African bowler Shabnim Ismail is the oldest player in WPL and is all set to bring pace and power the the upcoming women's T20 tournament. At 37, Ismail is feared as the fastest bowler in women's cricket, bowling constantly above 125 km/h.
Marking a high-value signing for the Mumbai Indians in the 2024 WPL auction, the 37-year-old played a key role in their championship wins in 2023 and 2025. She also recorded the fastest delivery in women's cricket history at 132.1 kph during the 2024 WPL season.
As Shabmin prepares to play yet another WPL edition at the age of 37, she remains an icon and a sheer inspiration for budding cricketers all around the globe.

3) Happy Kumari - 18 years, 9 months, and 24 days
Sold at her base price of 10 Lakhs INR, fast bowler Happy Kumari is set for her Gujarat Giants debut. On 3 February 2007, the teenager was born in a small village called Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. A player with a bright future, she first made waves with her solid performances at the domestic level, earning a much-sought-after place in the BCCI Emerging Women’s Cricket Tournament.
Happy’s ascent from local matches in Jhunjhunu to the national-level tournament is nothing short of motivational, and now the youngster prepares to play for the Giants in the WPL.
2) Triveni Vasistha - 18 years, 5 months, and 29 days
Among the youngest faces in the Women's Premier League, Triveni Vasistha is the second-youngest. Born on 30 May 2007, the young gun was bought by the Mumbai Indians at the base price of 20 Lakhs (INR).
Playing for Haryana in the domestic circuit, she has an economy rate of 5.84 in 13 WT20s so far.
Her domestic brilliance makes her a player to watch in the upcoming 4th edition of WPL.
1) Deeya Yadav - 16 years, 50 months
Born on 9 October 2009, Deeya Yadav, at 16, became the youngest player to play in the WPL 2026.
Courtesy of impressive performances at the domestic level, Deeya, an in-form top-order player, earned a well-deserved contract with the Delhi Capitals women for Rs. 10 Lakhs in the WPL 2026 Auction.
