At just 16, Deeya Yadav has lit up India’s domestic circuit with a season that has announced her as one of the brightest young batting talents in the country. A fluent right-handed top-order batter from Haryana, Deeya has combined fearless stroke-play with remarkable consistency, making her one of the most talked-about prospects ahead of the upcoming WPL auction.

Early rise and breakthrough season

Deeya’s journey into the spotlight began during the 2023 U-15 Women’s One Day Trophy, where she smashed nearly 600 runs (578 runs, 96.33 average and 3 hundreds), including a memorable double century, a rare feat at that level. That extraordinary run-scoring spree fast-tracked her into Haryana’s U-23 and senior teams in January 2024, and she has not looked back since.

Fast forward to the 2025-26 domestic season, Deeya truly set the stage ablaze. Playing at 3 and alongside someone like Shafali Verma, a pairing that drew immediate attention, she showcased a game uncannily similar to Shafali’s early years which was attacking, bold, and boundary-driven.

First, she dominated the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, anchoring Haryana’s innings and showcasing maturity far beyond her age, scoring 298 runs in 8 innings at an average of 59.60 and a strike rate of 127.89, a run that also included three impressive half-centuries.

She then carried that momentum into the Inter-Zonal Trophy for North Zone, where she opened the innings this time and smashed 151 runs at a strike rate of nearly 150, consistently providing explosive starts and playing a pivotal role in guiding North Zone to the final.

Tall and athletically built, she uses strong wrists to generate effortless power, especially towards the off-side, a hallmark of her batting.
