The T20 format has always been about capitalising on the right time, whether during the powerplay when there are field restrictions in play or at the back end of the innings with some fiery hitters in the group. In the Indian Premier League, we have seen that a few teams have mastered the art of hammering a total of over 200 runs and have their own pattern of achieving the same. 

Teams like Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings have the most 200-plus totals under their kitty in the history of the tournament. Yet again, Mumbai Indians made the most out of the last five overs in the game against Delhi Capitals and hammered 96 runs courtesy, Romario Shepherd. The unluckiest team of the Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore have had some serious pinch hitters in the last few years. Whether it was Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, Moeen Ali and now Glenn Maxwell, they knew how to take on the bowlers and get the momentum in the last few overs of their batting.

In the game against KKR in the 2019 edition, while batting first, RCB posted a mammoth score of 213 runs with the help of Virat Kohli's century and Moeen Ali's fiery 66-run knock off just 28 deliveries. To reach this respectable total, both these batters took on the likes of Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav, hammering 91 runs in the last five overs of the innings.

The Punjab Kings have turned out to be an improved team in the last few years, whether in terms of the quality of the batters or the bowlers, they have managed to make an impact against the strongest teams of the league. With the scouting of young talents like Jitesh Sharma, they have been quite amazing with their execution on the ground. 

During the 2023 season, both of the clashes against Mumbai Indians were nothing short of blockbusters. In the first clash, Sam Curran and Jitesh Sharma took on bowlers like Jofra Archer, Jason Behrendorff and Cameron Green, hammering 96 runs in the last five overs, including eight sixes, which places this particular display of hitting at the third position.

Since the inception of the Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians have always had some serious hitters of the ball. Whether it was Kieron Pollard, Thisara Perera, Hardik Pandya and now Tim David, all of these player possesses some serious hitting skills at the back end of the innings. 

In the recently concluded game against Delhi Capitals, the Mumbai Indians team posted a mammoth total of 234 runs and 96 of them came in the last five overs. Romario Shepherd hammered 32 runs against Anrich Nortje in the last overs and the rest was Tim David's heroics, as he scored 45 off just 21 deliveries.

If there was one glorious year for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, it has to be the year 2016. Not only did RCB reach the final in that season, but the cricketing fans also witnessed Virat Kohli's masterclass, who went on to score 973 runs including four hundreds in a single season of the IPL and AB de Villiers made some staggering contributions as well. 

In an unforgettable game against Gujarat Lions, both Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers hammered centuries and took RCB's total to 248 runs. Gujarat, despite having the likes of Dwayne Bravo, Praveen Kumar and Dhawal Kulkarni, leaked 112 runs in the last five overs, which is the most by any team in the history of the IPL.
