In a thrilling IPL 2025 last league-stage encounter on May 27 at Ekana Stadium, Jitesh Sharma scripted history by scoring an unbeaten 85 off just 33 balls, marking the highest individual score by a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicketkeeper-batter in IPL history. 

Before Jitesh Sharma’s remarkable innings, RCB’s wicketkeeper-batters had never crossed the 85-run mark in IPL matches. Hence, let's take a look at which wicketkeeper-batters have trailed Jitesh's path before he surpassed them.

5. KL Rahul - 68 Runs

On May 11, 2016, in the 41st match of IPL held at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Royal Challengers Bangalore faced Mumbai Indians. KL Rahul played a brilliant unbeaten knock for RCB, scoring 68 runs off 53 balls. Batting at number four, Rahul came in early after the quick dismissals of Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle. 

He steadied the innings with a patient and composed approach, hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes, finishing with a strike rate of 128.30. Despite his efforts, RCB could only post 151/4 in 20 overs, which Mumbai Indians successfully chased down with 8 balls to spare.

4. AB de Villiers - 76 Runs

On April 18, 2021, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Royal Challengers Bangalore faced Kolkata Knight Riders in the 10th match of the Indian Premier League. Batting first for RCB, AB de Villiers delivered a sensational unbeaten knock of 76 runs off just 34 balls. 

His innings, laced with 9 fours and 3 sixes, came at a staggering strike rate of 223.52 and played a crucial role in helping his team post a formidable total of 204/4 in 20 overs.

3. Srikar Bharat - 78 runs

On October 8, 2021, in the 56th match of IPL held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Royal Challengers Bangalore faced Delhi Capitals. Srikar Bharat played a match-winning knock for RCB, remaining unbeaten on 78 runs from 52 balls. 

Walking in at 6-2 after early dismissals of Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli, Bharat anchored the innings with a composed and confident performance. He struck 3 fours and 4 sixes during his innings, scoring at a strike rate of 150.00 which helped RCB chase down the 165-run target with no balls to spare.

2. Dinesh Karthik - 83 runs

On April 15, 2024, in the 30th match of the Indian Premier League at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Royal Challengers Bengaluru took on Sunrisers Hyderabad in a high-scoring thriller. Dinesh Karthik played a brilliant knock under pressure for RCB, scoring 83 runs off just 35 balls. 

Walking in at a critical stage after a middle-order collapse, Karthik counter-attacked with aggressive intent, hitting 5 fours and 7 sixes at a staggering strike rate of 237.14. Despite his efforts, RCB fell short in their massive chase of 288, finishing on 262/7 and losing the match by 25 runs.

1. Jitesh Sharma - 85 runs

In the IPL 2025 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), played in Bengaluru, Jitesh Sharma played a sensational knock that powered RCB into Qualifier 1. Coming in under pressure during a steep chase of 228, Jitesh hammered an unbeaten 85 off just 33 balls. 

His innings included a flurry of boundaries and sixes, turning the game in RCB's favour. He reached his fifty off just 22 balls and ultimately sealed the win with a slog-swept six in the 19th over, as RCB completed the third-highest successful chase in tournament history.
