In a significant development, the IPL has penalised Rishabh Pant for breaching a major code of conduct in the high-voltage LSG vs RCB match last night. Although Pant struck a belligerent century, LSG failed to conclude the tournament on a winning note, with Jitesh Sharma's blitzkreig powering RCB to the qualifier 1. 

Rishabh Pant Fined For Violating IPL Code Of Conduct

After RCB registered an emphatic victory over LSG, the IPL penalised Rishabh Pant for LSG's slow over rate in this match. The skipper was found guilty of breaching article 2.2 of the IPL code of conduct which deals with the over rate offences. 

Notably, this was LSG's third such offence in the IPL 2025, so Pant was penalised INR 30 lakhs. Meanwhile, the rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 12 Lakh or 50 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser. Pant accepted his mistake as well as the sanctions, so there was no need of a formal hearing.  

Rishabh Pant Concludes IPL 2025 On A High Note

Meanwhile, Pant, who looked woefully out of touch in the first thirteen games, finally regained his mojo against RCB. The talismanic southpaw came at number three after LSG lost the prized wicket of Matthew Breetzke. 

Rishabh Pant steadied the ship for LSG, forming a mammoth stand of 152 runs with the in-form Mitchell Marsh. He eventually brought up a scintillating hundred, ensuring LSG posted a massive total at the end of 20 overs. 

However, the LSG bowlers had a forgettable outing, with Virat Kohli, Mayank Agarwal and Jitesh Sharma propelling RCB to a thumping win.
