The RCB franchise has historically held one of the most explosive batting line-ups in the history of the IPL. With the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers spending a major part of their T20 careers with RCB, the franchise has pulled off some stunning run-chases, some of them even in excess of over 200 runs.

Here, we take a look at five of RCB’s highest successful run-chases in the history of the IPL.

5. RCB 187-5 vs Delhi Daredevils, IPL 2018

In match 45 of the IPL 2018 season in Delhi against hosts Delhi Daredevils, Rishabh Pant’s thunderous 61 left RCB to hunt down a monumental target of 182. RCB’s chase started off on a torrid note, as they lost both openers, Parthiv Patel and Moeen Ali within the first three overs of the innings. Captain Virat Kohli (70 off 40) and number four AB de Villiers (72* off 37) tilted the tide back in RCB’s favor with a match-defining partnership of 118 runs for the third wicket. Villiers smoked six huge sixes in his innings, including one to seal the deal in the penultimate over as RCB reached 187-5.

4. RCB 195-3 vs RPS, IPL 2016

RCB pulled off a 192-run heist against the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants franchise in match 35 of the IPL 2016 season in Bengaluru. Virat Kohli headlined RCB’s chase by whacking 108 unbeaten runs from just 58 balls with eight fours and seven maximums, thus tonking one of his four hundreds of the season. The cricketer received much assistance from opening partner KL Rahul (38 off 35) and from Shane Watson (36 off 13) as the hosts raced to 195-3 with three balls to spare.

3. RCB 204-2 vs KXIP, IPL 2010

RCB blanked Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) by eight wickets back during the IPL 2010 season in Bengaluru. Chasing 204 runs, RCB opener Jacques Kallis punched out a majestic 89* from 55 balls with eight fours and five huge sixes. Robin Uthappa at number three also plundered a rapid 21-ball 51 after opening batter Manish Pandey compiled 38 runs from just 26 balls at the top of the order.

Notably, RCB romped home to victory with more than an over to spare, with Kallis fittingly bagging the ‘Player of the Match’ award.

2. RCB 206-1 vs Gujarat Titans, IPL 2024

RCB, under the leadership of Faf du Plessis, pulverized Gujarat Titans in a chase of above 200 runs in match 45 of the IPL 2024 season in Ahmedabad. Virat Kohli started off the chase with 70 runs from 44 balls, while captain Faf chipped in with a quick 12-ball 24. Will Jacks at number three pulled off the defining innings of the match, cracking 100 unbeaten runs from just 41 balls with five fours and 10 huge sixes.

Kohli’s crafty knock, and Jacks’ thunderous approach took RCB to a comfortable nine-wicket win in just 16 overs.

1. RCB 230-4 vs LSG, IPL 2025

With a spot in the first qualifier on the line, RCB walloped a spirited LSG team in the final league match of the IPL 2025 season in Lucknow. Chasing 228 runs for a win after Rishabh Pant’s cracking ton, RCB opener Virat Kohli compiled 54 runs from 30 balls and shared a quick 61-run partnership with Phil Salt.

After slipping to 123-4 in 11.2 overs, unbeaten Mayank Agarwal and interim captain Jitesh Sharma compounded 107 runs together for the fifth wicket in just 44 balls. Agarwal made 41* from 23 balls, while Jitesh smeared eight boundaries and six huge sixes in his match-winning knock of 33-ball 85* as RCB sealed the deal in just 18.4 overs.
