Hardik Pandya's return from the hamstring injury, which he suffered during the Asia Cup, turned out perfectly for India, as the star all-rounder scored his second fifty of the five-match T20I series against South Africa in Ahmedabad, reaching the milestone in just 16 deliveries, taking the Proteas by storm.

With this blistering knock, he entered an illustrious list of Indian batters with the quickest fifties in T20I cricket. Here's the top-5 listed.

5. Suryakumar Yadav vs South Africa, 2022 - 18 balls

In preparation for the T20 World Cup 2022, India hosted SA for a three-match T20I series in October 2022. During the second match of the series in Guwahati, India batted first and got a good start through KL Rahul's fifty, as Suryakumar Yadav joined Virat Kohli at 107/2 and went berserk to score a fifty in just 18 balls, while also getting 21 runs from a Kagiso Rabada over, with two sixes and two fours.

Before a mix-up with Kohli, leading to Yadav's run out, he scored 61(22) with five fours and five sixes and helped India to 237/3. The hosts ended up winning the match by 16 runs to seal the series, with a match to go.

4. KL Rahul vs Scotland, 2021 - 18 balls

At the end of a forgettable T20 World Cup in the UAE, India faced Scotland at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the final Group Stage match, having lost to Pakistan and New Zealand already. As they looked to improve their net run-rate to stand an outside chance of qualification, KL Rahul scored a fifty in just 18 balls, with six fours and three sixes while chasing 86 runs. His fifty helped India chase the target in just 6.3 overs; however, did not help in qualification to the next round.

3. Abhishek Sharma vs England, 2025 - 17 balls

Having already won the T20I series against the visiting England, India batted first in the fifth match at the Wankhede Stadium, where Abhishek Sharma went all guns blazing for his second T20I century, scoring 135 in just 54 deliveries, helping the hosts reach 247/9 in 20 overs. During his knock that consisted of 13 sixes and seven fours, he reached his fifty in just 17 balls, just in the fifth over, with the help of five sixes and three fours.

India went on to bundle England for just 97 runs and won the match by a huge margin of 150 runs.

2. Hardik Pandya vs South Africa, 2025 - 16 balls*

Coming back to Ahmedabad with a 2-1 lead in the series, Pandya walked in to bat at 12.2 over mark, after India had gotten a great start from the openers, and the score read 115/3. With a first ball six towards the Indian dugout off Corbin Bosch, Pandya cleared his intentions of going hammer and tongs and take India to a match-winning total. He scored 20 from 4 balls of George Linde's final over and eventually reached the 50-run milestone in 16 balls.

With his knock, he added 105(44) for the 4th wicket, and India reached 231/5 at the end of the innings.

1. Yuvraj Singh vs England, 2007 - 12 balls

As India created history at the World T20 2007 in South Africa, Yuvraj Singh played a crucial role as a senior member of a young Indian side, guiding them to a win against England in Durban. During the famous knock, where he scored six sixes off Stuart Broad, he came in to bat at 155/3 in 15.3 overs and took the score to 216/4 before getting out. With the help of his six sixes, he reached the fifty in just 12 balls, which remains one of the undisputed records even after almost two decades.

India scored 218/4 and went on to win the match by 18 runs, and Yuvraj was named Player of the Match.
