There was a time when the Indian cricket team was known for their batting excellence rather than bowling prowess. However, time has changed and now the world's best bowler belongs to India in the form of Jasprit Bumrah.

The tearaway pacer made his Test debut in 2018 and since then has been the best in the business across formats. In the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series, Bumrah has been the lone warrior for India, having picked up 30 Test wickets and became the number one ranked bowler in Tests with a rating point of 907.

With this feat, he became the Indian bowler with the highest achieved rating point in Test cricket, eclipsing R Ashwin, who was the previous holder of this award.

In this piece, we look at the Indian bowlers with the highest ratings achieved in Test cricket.

5) Anil Kumble - 859 rating points

Arguably one of the finest spinners in world cricket, Anil Kumble was a pioneer in spin bowling and was India's best bowler for almost two decades. However, it was in 1994 when he reached the pinnacle of his powers.

He achieved the number one ranking on January 30, 1994 and achieved a rating point of 859, which was the fifth highest achieved by an Indian.

4) Kapil Dev - 877 rating points

The Haryana Hurricane, as they call him, was India's first express pacer who used to terrorise the batters with sheer pace and swing. At one point he was the highest wicket-taker for India in Tests and on January 19, 1980, he achieved the rating point of 877, which was the fourth highest in India's history.

3) Ravindra Jadeja - 899 rating points

The spin wizard of India, Ravindra Jadeja has been one of the best Indian spinners in the last 10-12 years. He had formed a brilliant partnership with R Ashwin, and on March 20, 2017, he achieved the third highest rating points - 899 and became the Indian bowler with the third highest rating points achieved by an Indian.

2) Ravichandran Ashwin - 904 rating points

Perhaps the second greatest spinner from India, R Ashwin recently retired from Test cricket and finished as the seventh highest wicket-taker in Tests. Throughout the last 14 years, he has wreaked havoc with his spin armoury and on December 12, 2016, he became the number one ranked bowler and achieved the rating point of 904.

1) Jasprit Bumrah - 907 rating points

The best bowler at the moment, Bumrah recently became the number one ranked Test bowler and also picked up 200 wickets in Test cricket. In 4 Tests Vs Australia, he has scalped 30 wickets and surpassed R Ashwin to become the Indian bowler with the highest rating points in Tests, which was 907.
