Will IND Vs AUS 5th Test Be Abandoned Due To Rain? Sydney Cricket Ground Weather Update
SCG weather report [Source: @abcsport/X.Com]
The stage is set for the 5th Test of the Border-Gavaskar Series as India and Australia will collide at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground on January 3. After the emphatic win at the MCG, the series has tilted in Australia's favour as the home team to capture the trophy.
India, on the other hand have been below-par in the BGT 2024. They started off with a resounding win in Perth under Jasprit Bumrah's captaincy, but then suffered a loss at Adelaide and Melbourne as they now finds themselves behind and have almost crashed out of the WTC finale race.
The Indian batting has been sub-par and barring Bumrah, the bowling has also lacked the cutting-edge as the team needs to find a solution before the SCG Test. However, apart from the two teams, there is also a third factor which could decide the fate of the match - rain.
Sydney Weather: Will rain play spoilsport?
The good news is that the first three days will be rain free, so expect plenty of action to take place between the two teams. However, Day 4 and 5 is where the things get interesting.
As per Accuweather, Day 4 and 5 will witness rainfall which will also give respite to the fans from the heatwave in the country. The final day of the Test match has a chance to witness 80 percent rainfall which could decide the outcome of the match.
While rain will be a big relief for the people of Sydney, it could be a recipe for disaster for Team India, who still have a small chance of reaching the WTC finals.
