In a phenomenal achievement, India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav completed 150 sixes in the format. The swashbuckling batter attained the landmark in the ongoing first T20I against Australia at Manuka Oval in Canberra. Suryakumar, who regained his mojo with a power-packed knock, also overtook MS Dhoni on the list of Indian batters with the most T20I runs against Australia.

Suryakumar Yadav becomes 5th batter with 150 T20I sixes

Suryakumar Yadav played a pivotal role in resurrecting India's innings after the visitors lost the crucial wicket of Abhishek Sharma. While Shubman Gill played the aggressor's role, Suryakumar joined him in the run-fest, frustrating the Australians with scintillating stroke play.

The Indian captain, who struggled with poor form in the Asia Cup 2025, went on to hit two massive sixes, thereby becoming the second batter from his country after Rohit Sharma to complete 150 maximums in the format.

Most sixes in T20I cricket

  • Rohit Sharma - 205
  • Muhammad Waseem - 187
  • Martin Guptill - 173
  • Jos Buttler - 172
  • Suryakumar Yadav - 150

Thus, Suryakumar Yadav is overall the fifth batter to hit 150 or more sixes in T20Is. While Rohit Sharma claims the top spot with 205 sixes, UAE's Muhammad Waseem is second on the list, with Martin Guptill, Jos Buttler and Suryakumar following him.

Suryakumar Yadav surpasses MS Dhoni

In another notable achievement, Suryakumar Yadav also eclipsed legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni on the list of India's most successful batters against Australia in T20Is. While MS Dhoni has 313 runs, Suryakumar went past him and has 329 runs at a healthy average of 36.55 and a strike rate of 171.35 against Australia in the format.

Riding on Suryakumar and Shubman Gill's flamboyant partnership, India raced to 97 for one in 9.4 overs before rain played spoilsport for the second time in the match.
