Indian cricketer Sanju Samson has agreed to adopt two young athletes through his foundation, as confirmed by Kerala General Education Minister V Sivankutty. The minister also confirmed that the two aforementioned athletes impressed one-and-all at the Kerala State School Sports & Games (Kayikamela) in Thiruvananthapuram.

Samson, currently in Australia for India’s five-match T20I series, himself praised the two athletes while making an official statement.

Sanju Samson to empower two talented youths

Kerala General Education Minister V Sivankutty confirmed that the Sanju Samson Foundation will be adopting young athletes Devapriya Shaibu and Athul T M. While Devapriya set a meet record in sub-junior girls 100 metre, Athul broke the record in boys 100 meter and 200-meter races.

Sanju Samson himself praised the two athletes, saying that their fight and determination against life difficulties caught his attention. He also added that via the Sanju Samson foundation, these two athletes will receive a strong support in reaching the national level competitions and potentially at the Olympics. He added:

“These children will be provided travel and accommodation to attend state and national-level competitions and provided the help of a professional athletics coach.”

The Sanju Samson Foundation was formed back in 2023 with an aim of empowering India’s youth by “promoting sports, building community and creating long-term social impact.”

Sanju Samson himself is currently in Australia as part of the Indian team for a five-match T20I series against the hosts. The blistering wicketkeeper-batter recently played a solitary Ranji Trophy 2025 match for the Kerala team in Thiruvananthapuram.

Last month, Samson won the 2025 Asia Cup title alongside the rest of his teammates in the UAE. The explosive right-handed batter even scored crucial runs against Sri Lanka in the Super Four and against arch-rivals Pakistan in the high-octane finale on September 28.
