The Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season wrapped up with Vidarbha lifting their third title after beating Kerala in the final. The win in Nagpur once again proved that they are no longer underdogs in domestic cricket.

The Ranji Trophy, which started way back in 1934-35 has seen plenty of teams rise and fall but only a handful have managed to dominate over the years.

Some teams have built legacies, some have had golden runs and others are just starting to leave their mark. Let’s take a look at the teams with the most Ranji Trophy titles.

5. Vidarbha – 3 Titles

Vidarbha may not have the longest history of winning titles but in recent years, they have shown they are here to stay. Their first taste of glory came in 2017-18 when Faiz Fazal led them to a famous win over Delhi. And they didn’t stop there. They successfully defended their title in 2018-19 and proved that they weren’t a one-season wonder.

Now, in 2024-25, they’ve done it again. This time, they took down Kerala to grab their third title. From a team that once struggled in domestic cricket to one that has now won three titles in just eight seasons, Vidarbha is a force to be reckoned with. If they keep this up, they could climb even higher in this list soon.

4. Baroda & Madhya Pradesh – 5 Titles Each

Baroda and Madhya Pradesh share the fourth spot with five titles each. Baroda was a powerhouse back in the day. Legends like Vijay Hazare and Irfan Pathan played for them, and they dominated domestic cricket in the mid-1900s. They won their first title in 1942-43 and went on to win four more with their last win coming in 2000-01.

On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh dominated Ranji Trophy cricket under the name Holkar before. They were a powerhouse in the late 1940s and early 1950s, winning four titles between 1945 and 1955. With a squad featuring some of the best cricketers of that era, Holkar was one of the strongest teams in domestic cricket.

After the name change, Madhya Pradesh had to wait a long time for another title. It finally came in 2021-22 when they defeated Mumbai in the final. Now, with five titles in total (including the Holkar era), they continue to be a competitive force in Indian domestic cricket.

3. Delhi – 7 Titles

While they haven’t been as dominant in recent years with their last win coming in 2007-08, they still remain one of the most competitive teams in the tournament.
