One of the largest stadiums in Australia, the Adelaide Oval has enjoyed a proud history as one of Australia’s premier sporting and entertainment venues for more than 140 years. Primarily hosting AFL and Cricket, the stadium is situated in inner Adelaide. Notably, the sporting venue was transformed with a complete redevelopment concluding in 2014, converting the historic ground into a world-class stadium, while retaining historic elements, including the hill and scoreboard.

The redeveloped oval stands proudly within a rejuvenated riverbank and parklands precinct, serving as a premier venue for cricket, football, and a wide range of major sporting and entertainment events.

Adelaide Oval Pitch Report

The Adelaide Oval cricket stadium pitch report suggests that the surface is one of the best batting tracks in ‘Down Under’. Notably, the pitch is generally considered a good batting wicket, especially early in a match, with true bounce and a fast outfield. However, it can become slightly challenging for batters as the match progresses, particularly for day and night games where the ball can offer more swing, and it eventually provides assistance to spinners.

Adelaide Oval Pitch Batting or Bowling Friendly

The track at the Adelaide Oval usually assists the batters, with minimal seam movement offered to the pacers. Having said that, the batters must adopt a cautious approach, especially in the initial overs. Overall, it is a good batting surface with something on it for the spinners and hard-length bowlers. Unless the track is on the drier side, expect the toss-winner to bowl first.

Adelaide Oval Boundary Length

Structure in an oval shape, the Adelaide Oval underwent a change during the 2011-14 redevelopment when the turf dimensions were altered. Hence, the playing field dimensions became 167m x 124m. So from the centre pitch, the square boundaries are around 63 metres, and the straight boundaries are approximately 86 metres, after leaving 2-3 meters for the advertisement boards.
