In a remarkable turn of events, Royal Challengers Bangalore have bagged the services of ace Indian pacer Renuka Singh Thakur for 1.5 Crores.

Renuka had a base price of 50 Lakhs, but as soon as the auctioneer announced her name, a bidding war started between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals.

The battle was fierce and continued till the 1.5 Crore-mark, with the Bangalore-based franchise emerging as the ultimate winner.

Renowned for his incredible ability to move the ball, both in the air and off the pitch, Renuka grabbed a million eyeballs through a sensational spell of seam bowling against the mighty Australia Women in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.

Although her performance  enough to win India that day, she became a household name after the game.

Since then, she has enjoyed stellar success in international cricket, particularly in the T20Is. Overall, the 27-year-old has scalped 42 wickets, including 24 in T20Is, at a marvellous economy of 6.45.

Although RCB had already booked the services of Sophie Devine and Ellyse Perry, they probably wanted to get a frontline seamer, for which they went till the hilt for the Indian spearhead.

With the likes of Ellyse Perry and Renuka Thakur in their squad, RCB are certainly going to set the WPL stage on fire.
