The much-anticipated Women's Premier League 2023 auction has begun with a bang, with India's star opener Smriti Mandhana becoming the first-ever player to be sold in the mega event. She joins the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping price of 3.4 Crores.

Mandhana was the first player to go under the hammer. Considering her incredible batting ability, a bidding war continued between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore to book her services. However, the Bangalore-based franchise finally won the battle for a price of 3 Crores 40 Lakhs.

Mandhana, who debuted at a tender age, showcased her mettle with the bat straightaway, establishing herself as a sure-starter for Indian Women across formats.

The stylish southpaw has amassed a whopping 2651 runs at a healthy average of 27.32 in 108 innings.

She enjoyed stellar success in the CommonWealth Games 2022, playing a significant role in powering India to the final.

The Indian batter, who has 20 half centuries to her name in T20Is, also has a plethora of experience in the shortest format, having played in the WBBL and Women’s T20 challenge.

So, considering her experience and ability, we expect the southpaw to help RCB reach new heights in the inaugural Women’s Premier League.
