It was utter carnage when Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning were toying away with the Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers on Sunday afternoon.

RCB were the heavy favourites for this encounter, and boasted a star-studded lineup, but Lanning and her partner in crime, Shafali Verma tore apart the bowling attack and added 162 runs for the opening wicket, which laid the foundation for a sizzling win.

Shafali hogged the limelight, and outscored her senior partner. She smashed a quick-fire 45-ball 84, laced with 10 fours and 4 sixes. She eventually fell short of her maiden T20 ton, but played her part in the win.

Speaking to the official broadcasters after this emphatic win, Delhi Capitals skipper Meg Lanning had high praise for Shafali and talked about the equation they shared while batting.

"It was a great atmosphere out there and happy to get the win. Shafali was playing amazingly out there. It was a lot of fun to play with her. We were smiling a lot of the time while hitting the boundaries.

That's the great thing about these competitions. You get to play with people you wouldn't play with normally, you get to have a lot of fun and you learn something. We felt that it was a good surface to bat on and we posted a good total."

Talking about the match, DC posted a mammoth 223 on the board. Marizanne Kapp and Jemimah Rodrigues provided the finishing touches as RCB had a stiff target in front of them.

The Smriti Mandhana led side started on an aggresive note, but lost a flurry of wickets which derailed their momentum as they lost the game by 60 runs.
