Rest of India thrashed Madhya Pradesh by 238 runs to clinch the Irani Trophy title on Sunday in a rather one-sided contest.

Madhya Pradesh were left far behind in the contest on day 1 itself and they failed to recover from the early jolt provided by the Rest of India team.

How things panned out

ROI scored a massive 484 in their first innings, courtesy of a sublime double century from Yashasvi Jaiswal (213) and a brilliantly crafted hundred by Abhimanyu Easwaran (154). MP lost the plot when they came out to bat, getting dismissed for 294.

In the second Innings as well, Jaiswal turned out to be the chief destroyer, notching up a sensational hundred (144) to push the opposition on the back-foot.

A target of 437 was a bit too much for Madhya Pradesh, as they skittled for 198, and lost the match without putting up much of a fight.

What Jaiswal said?

Talking to the broadcasters after the match, the Man of the Match, Yashasvi Jaiswal stated that he wanted to get to the triple hundred mark, and was delighted to stitch a partnership alongside Easwaran.

"I was trying a triple hundred in the first innings and would've been happy if I was able to convert. The ball was moving a bit and I was talking with Abhimanyu Easwaran about what shot I can play, what can there plans be. It helped me. When you have a experienced cricketer by your side , you gain a lot. It was a good experience in batting.

I have much more area to improve on different shots, playing with different mindset in different time. I am looking for my next opportunity."

Jaiswal looks in good touch and will be knocking the doors of the selectors if he continues to pile on more runs.
