Kumar Kartikeya emerged as one of the standout performers for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022 season.

Despite his limited appearances, his impact on the team's performance was significant, particularly with his impressive wicket-taking ability and economical bowling.

Kartikeya played only four matches for Mumbai Indians and picked up five wickets at an excellent economy rate of 7.84.

For the 2022 season, MI struggled badly for more than half the tournament as they lost a record eight games on the trot. However, Kartikeya's debut seemed to coincide with a turning point for the team, as they managed to secure victories in four out of their last six games. His contribution likely provided a boost to the team's morale and performance on the field.

Kumar Kartikeya On Rohit Sharma's Support And Influence On Him

Rohit Sharma's influence and inspiration on young cricketers, especially those under his captaincy at Mumbai Indians, have been widely acknowledged.

Many talented players have spoken about Sharma's supportive nature and his ability to calm nerves, enabling them to perform at their best on the field.

Kumar Kartikeya stated, " When he (Rohit Sharma) told me in the team meeting that I was going to play, I was a bit nervous and he spotted that.

"But then he took me outside the room and personally told me that 'Don't worry at all. I will handle everything. Just bowl the way you do in Ranji Trophy fearlessly. I will always support you whether you go for runs or pick wickets. So don't worry just bowl like you do in the nets. It's not easy to hit you for runs. So when your captain backs you this much, you automatically perform well."

Kartikeya's impressive debut performance against the Rajasthan Royals, where he picked up figures of 1/19, underscores the positive impact of Sharma's guidance and support.
