Australian legend, Meg Lanning faced one of the most fiercest balls of the game as Lauren Filer cleaned her up with an absolute peach of a delivery, sending her off stump cartwheeling in the 23rd game of The Hundred 2024 at Lords Cricket Ground in London.

Lanning, who is known for her consistency and ability to mould a game, has looked a tad out of touch this season, with just one fifty plus score form six games. This time too she failed to fire her bat and departed for a low score of just 4 runs.

On the 14th ball, Lauren Filer bowled a gem, a pitched up delivery to Lanning; she tried to drive the ball however it snuck through the gap and crashed into the stumps in a jiffy. And with her sheer pace the Manchester Originals successfully drew first blood.

Earlier in the match, London Spirit Women won the toss and invited Manchester Originals to bat. Beth Mooney looked good after the Originals lost Laura Wolvaardt early. Mooney made 20 off 17 before she was dismissed by Charlie Dean. Emma Lamb also played a crucial knock of 28 off 26.

With the chase already underway, Heather Knight-led Spirit women are 67 runs away from victory.
