In a significant development, India won the toss and elected to bowl first in their first Super Four clash against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025. At toss, Suryakumar Yadav confirmed two changes in India's playing XI, while Agha Salman revealed that Pakistan brought in Hussain Talat and Faheem Ashraf for Hasan Nawaz and Khushdil Shah, respectively.
Who Is Hussain Talat: Career And Stats So Far
Hussain Talat is an experienced batter from Pakistan, who has played four ODIs and nineteen T20Is. Born on February 12, 1996, in Lahore, Hussain Talat made his debut for Pakistan in a T20I against West Indies on April 1, 2018.
The 29-year-old primarily plays as an all-rounder. He is a left-handed batter, who can roll his arms for a few overs of medium pace.
In four ODIs, Talat has scored 75 runs at an average of 25. Meanwhile, he has amassed 395 runs in 19 T20Is with the help of two half-centuries at an average of 23.23 and a strike rate of 117.21. The cricketer has also bagged five wickets with his useful medium pace bowling in the shortest format.
Talking about his domestic career, Talat has played 73 First-Class, 110 List-A and 198 T20 matches. He has particularly been successful in the shortest format, scoring 3895 runs at an average of 30.66 and a strike rate of 125.72. He comes in for Hasan Nawaz, who has managed only 17 runs across three innings in the Asia Cup 2025.
The southpaw has played for three teams- Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League.
