One-time T20 World Cup champions West Indies suffered a thumping defeat at the hands of England in their opening match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023. Led by Hayley Matthews, West Indies managed just 137 runs while batting first, which the England side chased down quite comfortably.

Pacer Chinelle Henry, who was West Indies' standout bowler in the match, said that her side aimed to improve and learn from their mistakes going forward.

As per Jamaicaovserver, Henry stated that if West Indies can pull up their socks and come together as a unit, they could beat their next opponent India.

India won their opening Group B encounter against Pakistan on Sunday.

Here's what Henry said

“I have no doubt that when we come together as a unit on any day, like what everybody says, that West Indies just knows how to turn up, so I mean, if we go there and play our game against India, like we did in this match, then we definitely could beat them,”

The West Indies team were outplayed in all three departments by England women, and the team from Caribbean will be aiming to make a strong push in this crucial encounter against India.
