India's all-format skipper Rohit Sharma needs no introduction, however, for the uninitiated, the opener is one of the most destructive batters in modern-day cricket.

Sharma despite his slow start in international cricket, held a reputation amongst Indian players of being one of the most talented, which even former captain Virat Kohli touched on in his early days.

The 36-year-old really came into his own under former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's leadership, where when promoted to the opening slot, Sharma shined and never looked back.

As rare as finding a needle in a haystack, Dhoni took to the social media platform Twitter (now X) and praised Sharma for his mammoth and record-breaking 264-run knock against Sri Lanka in 2014.

Having already slammed a 209 in 2013, Sharma absolutely demolished the Lankan attack en route with his second One-Day International (ODI) double-ton, which is also the highest-ever individual score in a 50-over match, that earned his praise for Dhoni, who was rested from the series.

The Chennai Super Kings captain labelled Sharma as "sheer talent" and urged everyone to enjoy the batting.

"Very well batted Rohit. that's Rohit for everyone, sheer talent. Enjoy and Witness the class in action," Dhoni had said.

Later, the next day, Sharma responded back on then Twitter and thanked Dhoni for the praise.

Since 2014, Sharma has evolved into a white-ball maestro and managed to smash three ODI double-tons, becoming the only batter in the history of cricket to do so. Overall, in 262 ODIs, Sharma has amassed 10,709 runs with 31 centuries and 55 fifties.
