In 2023, Yashasvi Jaiswal etched his name in cricketing history, scripting a fairy tale in his debut Test match against the West Indies. The 21-year-old opener, who once sold 'panipuri' for pocket money, delivered a stellar performance at Windsor Park in Dominica, leaving an indelible mark on the cricketing world.

Jaiswal's journey from a street vendor to a record-breaking Test debutant is the stuff dreams are made of. The youngster, handpicked by selectors, showcased his mettle in the 1st Test, forming a sensational partnership with skipper Rohit Sharma. The duo's remarkable 229-run stand paved the way for a comprehensive victory over Kraigg Brathwaite's side.

After the match, the emotional highlight occurred when Jaiswal, overwhelmed by his achievement, reached out to his father, Bhupendra, in a heartwarming video call. The clock had just struck 4:30 AM in India, but the time difference didn't matter. Jaiswal, tears streaming down his face, could barely speak. "Are you happy, father?" he asked, his voice choked with emotion. It was a poignant moment shared between a father and son, transcending the miles that separated them.

Jaiswal's remarkable innings of 171 off 387 balls not only secured India's victory but also etched his name in the record books. Becoming the third Indian to score 150 in his debut Test, he displayed exceptional temperament and skill. At just 21 years and 196 days, Jaiswal became the fifth youngest batter to achieve this milestone, breaking records previously held by legends of the game.

Post-match, the elated Jaiswal expressed his gratitude, saying,

"It's been a long journey, feeling very happy and good about it. Let's see what the future holds for me; this is just the start of my international career."

Little did he know that his journey had more milestones in store.

In 2024, facing England in the second Test, Jaiswal surpassed his previous best, scoring an impressive 209. This made him the youngest Indian to reach that milestone in Test cricket.
