The World Cup 2023 is here and we are still not over Virat Kohli's gesture for Steve Smith during the 2019 World Cup. The former India captain has always been respectable towards his colleagues and opponents at least until someone does wrong to him.

We have seen all the versions of Kohli, even the one when he was not getting runs. He has been the one with full of respect and gratitude towards everyone. In the 2019 World Cup, while India were playing against Australia, he made a gesture to support Smith which won the hearts of fans from all over the world.

Smith was coming from a ban that was imposed on him due to his involvement in the sand-paper ball-tampering scandal. David Warner, Smith and Cameron Bancroft were banned for their involvement in the scandal. After making a return to international cricket and apologising to everyone at the press conference it was hard for the Aussies to come to the ground.

Here's the video of Virat Kohli making a gesture to comfort Steve Smith during the match:

When asked upon how did he felt when Virat supported him, he said,"It was a very nice moment from Kohli in the 2019 World Cup, crowd was booing me and he told the crowd to just support him, What is wrong with him. That was great from Virat, really appreciate it."

Fans were booing on Smith during the India-Australia 2019 World Cup game. Then Kohli urged the fans to clap for him rather than booing on him, to which Smith thanked Virat by shaking hands between the overs.
