In the ever-moving cricketing world, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have emerged as modern-day legends. While their incredible batsmanship has often been celebrated in sync, there's an underlying story of competition that threads its way through their careers.

Kohli's six off Rohit's bowling won the game for RCB

Every stroke, every century, every on-field decision is dissected by their dedicated fandom, each side batting for their chosen champion.

Nowhere is this rivalry more pronounced than in the electrifying Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL's intense contests have produced a plethora of unforgettable moments, and among these, the 2012 face-off between the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Mumbai Indians remains etched in memory. This wasn't just any regular match. It was the day the fiery Kohli came up against his national teammate, Rohit. Not as a batsman, but as a bowler.

That evening, as the floodlights bathed the stadium in a surreal glow, RCB was well on their way to an impressive chase of 141. The scoreboard reflected a mere 16 runs needed from 3 overs.

It seemed like just another day at the office for the Challengers. But then, in a twist that had fans on the edge of their seats, Mumbai's skipper Harbhajan Singh, in a move of tactical bravado, tossed the ball to Rohit Sharma. The Hitman, renowned for his batting, was also once a handy off-spinner.

As Rohit released the first five deliveries, the duo of Kohli and Chris Gayle gleaned 10 runs. But what transpired next was the stuff of legends. Kohli, with the swagger that's become his trademark, danced down the pitch to Rohit's delivery. The connection was sweet, the trajectory sublime, and the ball soared over the sightscreen, sealing a victory with a thumping six!

While that monumental six remains a cherished memory for RCB fans, both Kohli and Rohit have since added numerous feathers to their illustrious caps.

Currently, under Rohit's leadership, India is painting a dominant picture in the World Cup 2023. With a flawless record and both stalwarts leading the run charts, the future looks promising for the Men in Blue.

The duo will be up against defending champions England in Match 29 of World Cup 2023 on Sunday, October 29 in Lucknow as they look to maintain India’s undefeated record in the tournament.
