The West Indian legend played arguably the greatest knock in the history of IPL, when he slammed an unbeaten 175 against the Pune Warriors India (PWI) in the 2013 season and shattered numerous records. One of which was the highest score in IPL history and most sixes in an IPL innings.

The southpaw slammed 17 sixes and a couple of them were even struck out of the stadium. Such was the innings that the next best score was 33 by Tilakratne Dilshan.

2) Brendon McCullum

McCullum has smacked the 2nd most sixes in an IPL innings [X]

If there is one innings that gave life to the IPL, it has to be the first-ever hundred in the tournament's history. In the opening contest between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kiwi legend, Brendon McCullum, set the stage on fire with a monumental 158 off just 73 deliveries.

The innings was laced with gigantic 13 sixes and it showed the world that IPL is here to rule for the coming years. KKR defeated RCB in a one-sided contest to begin the tournament with a storm.

Chris Gayle makes the list once again, this time for his stellar performance against the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the 2012 season. Against a lacklustre DD attack, the power-hitting batter smacked 13 sixes, and 7 fours, as he raced to a quick-fire 62-ball 128.
