The Netherlands team received a surprise mentoring session from one of cricket's all-time greats, Dale Steyn, ahead of their World Cup 2023 campaign. After the warm-up match against Australia on Saturday, the Dutch squad found themselves soaking up pearls of wisdom from the South African fast-bowling maestro.

Dale Steyn imparts wisdom to Netherlands bowlers

In a video released by Cricket Netherlands on Twitter, Steyn can be seen passionately discussing nuances of fast bowling with the eager Dutch players. It's evident that the South African legend is not holding back in sharing the experiences and insights he's garnered over his illustrious career.

Cricket Netherlands captioned the video, “Guess who came down to the Creamy Beans Cafe for a Coffee and shared his immense knowledge of the game with the boys?” The legend @DaleSteyn62 himself."

Steyn, who has claimed a staggering 699 wickets from 265 matches for the Proteas, stands as one of the iconic figures in cricket's history. Only outdone in South African ranks by former captain Shaun Pollock with 829 wickets from 423 matches, Steyn's credentials are beyond reproach.

Now 40, the veteran cricketer has transitioned seamlessly into coaching. He's currently honing young talents as the bowling coach for Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Major League Cricket team, Washington Freedom. Furthermore, Steyn's expert analysis is also a feature in the commentary box for World Cup 2023.

The Dutch team, bolstered by their interaction with Steyn, will be looking forward to their World Cup 2023 opener against Pakistan in Hyderabad on October 6. Given their recent brush with one of the game's finest, expectations and spirits will be undoubtedly high for their opening game.
