Virat Kohli and cover-drive is a special love story. The way he plays it, nobody else can. Kohli scored a scintillating half-century in RCB's opening game against Mumbai Indians, and continued that same form in the ongoing IPL match against the Lucknow Super Giants.
Asked to bat first, RCB were off to a flier, courtesy, some sublime hitting from Virat Kohli. He miscued a pull that went for a maximum over fine leg. But post that, the Chinnaswamy witnessed a different Kohli.
He took on Avesh Khan in some style, smashing him for two sumptous cover-drives. In the 4th over of the match, Kohli started it with a hard-punch off the back-foot that went past the extra cover region. If that was something special, he took it a notch-above and sweetly caressed the next one past the cover region.
A good length ball outside the off and Kohli didn't even tried to hit it hard, he just stroked it away. It was poetry in motion.
He continued the onslaught on Mark Wood as well, taking him to the cleaners. Kohli was eventually dismissed by Amit Mishra for 61.
