On Tuesday, MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made history in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by making it to their 10th final in the lucrative league. In Qualifier 1, the Super Kings defended 172 runs against the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) at Chepauk, but at once, the game was hanging in the balance with skipper Hardik Pandya and in-form Shubman Gill at the crease.
However, like it has happened zillion times, Dhoni turned the game's tempo with his sheer brilliance from behind the stumps. Off Maheesh Theekshana's bowling, during the sixth over of the chase, the CSK stumper changed the field in the middle of the over, switching a fielder from the leg side to the off side.
The move made by MSD worked as a charm as the right-handed batter tried cutting a quicker delivery pitched on a good length outside the off-stump line, on which he miscued the cut shot straight into the hands of the fielder, who was brought from leg to off.

Interestingly, Pandya's wicket wasn't the sole tactical brilliance that he showcased on the field as he fought with the umpires for Matheesha Pathirana, who wasn't getting allowed to bowl because he was on-field for nine minutes and spilt words of wisdom in Subhranshu Senapati's ear, who nailed a single-eyed run-out.
Eventually, Chennai won by 15 runs against the reigning champions to book a place in a final where they will fight for their fifth IPL title.
