Chennai Super Kings (CSK) : 172-7 in 20 Overs [Ruturaj Gaikwad 60 (44), Devon Conway 40 (34); Mohammed Shami 2/28 (4)] beat Gujarat Titans (GT): 157-10 in 20 Overs [Shubman Gill 42 (38), Rashid Khan 30 (16); Ravindra Jadeja 2/18 (4)] by 15 runs.

MS Dhoni's CSK has been the most consistent team in the history of the IPL. They have won four IPL titles and now with a superb performance in the Qualifier 1 against GT, CSK have reached their 10th final. This was a typical CSK win at Chepauk as MS Dhoni showed his full tactical range and brilliance to choke GT batters in a stiff run-chase. GT batters just could not find a way out of the maze they were put into by MSD and were bundled out for 157 to hand CSK a comfortable win by 15 runs.

Gaikwad-Conway's opening masterclass take CSK to a par-total of 172

Gaikwad-Conway have been brilliant with their opening stands right throughout this season and have been the pillars of CSK's success. In an important Qualifier 1, they once again showed their prowess and stitched together an opening stand of 87 runs which eventually turned out to be a difference between the two sides. Gaikwad was the aggressor while Conway managed to hold one end up and though CSK lost their momentum a bit in the middle overs, Jadeja's cameo took them to 172.

For GT, Mohit Sharma and Shami got two wickets each and it was Mohit Sharma who broke the opening stand with a wicket of Gaikwad. Noor Ahmed also bowled well but GT failed to get a single wicket in first 10 overs and that cost them heavily in the end.

MS Dhoni's tactical brilliance acts as a catalyst in CSK's  complete bowling performance

The total of 172 was enough for MS Dhoni to weave his magic as he employed his spinners brilliantly to never let GT gain any momentum. Chahal once again got an early wicket of Saha and Theekshana got a big wicket of Pandya in the final over of the Powerplay to put GT on the back foot right from the start.

Gill held one end up but did not find his rhythm as MS Dhoni managed to choke GT batters with spinners bowling in tandem. Jadeja bowled a brilliant spell and got wickets of Shanaka and Miller to break the backbone of GT's middle order. Deepak Chahar also ended Gill's resistance in the 14th over and though Rashid Khan tried hard with a quickfire 30 off 16 balls, he did not get any support from the other end.

GT were eventually bundled out for 157 and CSK with this comprehensive win have booked a place in the final that will be played on Sunday, 28th of May.
