Indian opener, Shikhar Dhawan, has recently been drawing attention to his off-field antics, trading his cricket gear for a parachute as he explores the thrill of sky-diving during his break from cricket.

Currently on a break from professional cricket, Dhawan has been living life on the edge, quite literally, with his recent foray into skydiving.

Shikhar Dhawan's skydiving adventure amazes fans

Fans were treated to a snippet of his daring adventure when he shared a reel on his official Instagram account, captioned, "Freefalling through the clouds, living life to the fullest!"  Dhawan's skydiving video was met with admiration and awe from his followers.

Dhawan, fondly known as 'Gabbar' in cricket circles, was last seen representing Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The flamboyant southpaw made the move to the Punjab franchise in 2022, after a couple of successful seasons with Delhi Capitals.

PBKS, recognizing Dhawan's leadership skills, did not hesitate to invest heavily in securing his services during the IPL mega-auction. Following the departure of Mayank Agarwal, who was unable to bring much-needed success to the side in the previous season, Dhawan was entrusted with the captaincy.

However, the much-anticipated turnaround for Punjab Kings under Dhawan's leadership didn't materialize as expected. They had a disappointing run, ending up eighth in the points table last season.

Dhawan himself was plagued by fitness issues throughout the season, leading to his absence from a few league matches. In the 11 games he played, he could muster only 373 runs at an average of 41.44.

Meanwhile, Dhawan's place in the Indian team may currently be under speculation but he remains a top contender to lead a secondary Indian side in the upcoming Asian Games slated to take place in Hangzhou.

The final word on whether Dhawan will be donning the captain's hat for the Asian Games is yet to be confirmed, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) expected to make the decision soon.
