As per emerging reports, team India will likely recruit legendary former cricketer VVS Laxman as their coach for the upcoming Asian Games. The nineteenth edition of the Asian Games is set to take place in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8.
To the delight of fans across the globe, cricket is going to be a part of the marquee event, and the BCCI has decided to send the Indian team to participate in it. But as per a reliable BCCI source, India will have a different leadership group, with Shikhar Dhawan and VVS Laxman likely to lead and coach the team.
As the first-choice players and support staff will be busy with World Cup preparations, a second-string Indian contingent will travel to China to take part in the Asian Games. Notably, the ICC does not recognise Asian Games, and its fixtures won't get the status of international matches.
Regarded for his elegance and timing, VVS Laxman was a prolific performer for India in Test cricket, amassing 8781 runs at a fabulous average of 45.97. He has vast coaching experience, being an integral member of Sunrisers Hyderabad's think tank in several IPL seasons.
