Mumbai prolific run-getter Sarfaraz Khan missed the team's match against Services on Sunday in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2022 after being hospitalized following complaints of pain. Khan is being treated for kidney stones for a while, as revealed by his father Naushad Khan.

Khan's absence saw Mumbai lose quite comprehensively by eight wickets, despite Yashasvi Jaiswal's ton at Ranchi. Khan is expected to be fit for Mumbai's upcoming Elite group E game against Maharashtra on Sunday.

According to India Today, a Mumbai team official stated that Khan's stay in the hospital is a precautionary measure.

“Sarfaraz is expected to be fit. The one-night stay in the hospital was a precautionary exercise and we are confident about his participation in Thursday's game,”

Apart from Khan, Mumbai are without the services of Shreyas Iyer and Shivam Dube. Iyer is currently away on Indian duties in New Zealand, whereas Dube injured himself ahead of VHT.

Mumbai is coming off a title win in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022 and finds itself placed in fourth position in Elite Group E with one win and one loss.
