In a close encounter between the Hobart Hurricanes and Adelaide Strikers in match 38 of the ongoing Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) 2022, the former came out on top to acquire two points. The 23-run win places the Hurricanes just one point shy of the Strikers in the WBBL 08 points table in the fourth position.

Put into bat, Hobart were off to a solid start with Lizelle Lee and Elyse Villani adding 30-odd runs. Amanda Wellington claimed Lee for 24. Darcie Brown snapped Mignon du Preez, ending her seven-ball stay.

With wickets tumbling, skipper Villani batted with grit and along with Heather Graham took her side past 100. Wellington stopped Villani's surge, who missed out on a fifty falling for 47.

Graham and Nicola Carey carried the momentum forward in the final few overs, adding 48 runs before Deandra Dottin got the better of the former on 50.

Their innings closed on 152 for 4 with Carey and Ruth Johnston batting on 24* and 0*, respectively.

Chasing 152, the Strikers started rather sketchily, losing both their openers Katie Mack and Dottin under just 40 runs. Molly Strano and Carey ensured their opponents never got going.

Laura Wolvaardt along with skipper Tahlia McGrath managed to snitch a 57-run stand for the third wicket. Strano broke their partnership, getting Wolvaardt caught behind on 45.

McGrath followed suit, handing her wicket to Carey for 27.

Bridget Patterson and Madeline Penna remained unbeaten on 9* and 16* as the Adelaide side fell short of 23 runs, managing just 129 runs in their 20 overs.
