In an unfortunate turn of events, ace Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi injured his knee while completing a catch during the T20 World Cup final against England in Melbourne. Although Shaheen caught the ball successfully, the injury didn't let him finish his four-over quota, as he hobbled off the field after bowling only 2.1 overs.

However, veteran batter Shan Masood has revealed that Shaheen hasn't damaged his ligament. However, he seemed concerned for his fellow teammate, hoping for his quick recovery.

Masood, who himself has suffered from a similar injury in the past, advised the speedster to be cautious, citing a knee injury's tendency to persist throughout a cricketer's life.

Here's what Masood stated

"It was certainly his knee, but it could be anything. From what I am hearing, all his ligament tests are clear. I hope he is fine as he has previously had a serious injury and you are never too sure,

"I had one personally four years ago and a knee injury stays with you all the way throughout your whole career and there are times when you think you have done something to your knee again."

Notably, Shaheen damaged his knee during a Test match against Sri Lanka, which saw him miss the Asia Cup 2022 and play the World Cup with questionable fitness. Although he scalped some wickets towards the business end of the event, the left-arm seamer lacked the zip he had prior to the injury.
