Virat Kohli, the unquestioned stalwart of contemporary batting, has achieved remarkable milestones throughout his career in all formats. Whether in red-ball battles or the dynamic white-ball arena, he consistently stands as the backbone of Team India, steering them to numerous victories.

The stylish right-hander hasn't just racked up runs in India; the former Indian captain is a run-scoring machine wherever he steps. Australia hasn't been left alone in this regard, as the batting giant has scored a plethora of runs down under, especially while donning the whites.

Kohli's Perth classic

While Virat Kohli has dazzled with several remarkable innings in Australia, his 123 in Perth remains a standout performance by an Indian batter down under. The only downside is that this magnificent century ended in disappointment, with Australia triumphing over India by 146 runs.

However, that knock remained imprinted in the Australian players' minds for an extended period. This partly explains why, when Kohli requested paternity leave and sat out the first Test during the 2019-20 tour down under, Australian coach Justin Langer expressed his contentment.

Meanwhile, expressing his admiration, Justin Langer had also showered praise on Virat Kohli, considering him one of the best players he's come across. The then head coach of Australia also revealed himself as a big fan of the energy and passion Kohli displays on the field.

Here’s what Justin Langer had said about Virat Kohli:

“Virat Kohli is probably the best player I have ever seen in my life for so many reasons, not only his batting but his energy and passion for the game, the way he fields. I cannot believe he displays the energy he does in everything he does, and I've got so much respect for him.”

Things have taken a turn for the better for Virat Kohli since then – it's all coming up roses. The 35-year-old recently outpaced his childhood hero Sachin Tendulkar, scoring the most ODI centuries. He achieved this milestone in front of Tendulkar during the World Cup 2023 semi-final against New Zealand.
