Ex-MI Pacer Posts Cryptic Story In Solidarity With Rohit Sharma Amid Captaincy Drama

Mumbai Indians invited unwanted controversy after announcing a mega power transition ahead of the impending 2024 IPL season, the five-time champions replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of the unit with Hardik Pandya.

Pandya made a re-entry into the squad after MI traded him from Gujarat Giants in a mega cash deal. However, the fans and analysts alike didn’t see the latest move coming.

Having said that, not everyone agrees with MI’s ideology behind the transition. While the franchise says they want to shape the future, fans feel Rohit still has a lot of cricket left in him.

While the fans’ outrage is understandable, it seems even Rohit Sharma’s peers aren’t happy with the sudden move. Earlier today, MI star batter Suryakumar Yadav shared a story of a broken heart via his Instagram handle.

Now, the latest to join the masses is ex-Mumbai Indian fast bowler Dhawal Kulkarni. Via his official Instagram handle, Kulkarni shared a story with the number 45, which happens to be Rohit’s jersey number. It was clearly meant to express his support for Rohit Sharma amid the ongoing captaincy drama.

Surely, the shift in leadership has left the MI fans divided. While some feel Hardik Pandya is the future, the majority of the fanbase is against the idea of sacking Rohit from captaincy to accommodate Pandya.

Moreover, if the latest rumors are believed to be true, Hardik Pandya reportedly agreed to re-sign with Mumbai Indians on the condition of captaincy. Since he led the Gujarat Titans to a title win in its inaugural season, Pandya deemed himself equipped with the necessary skills required to lead a champion side like MI.

And most surprisingly, Mumbai Indians management agreed to the condition before officially trading him from Gujarat Titans. However, it still remains unclear if Rohit Sharma had any prior information about any such conditions or if he was even included in the decision-making process at all.
