What comes as news of relief to the Pakistani cricket fans and their board, team consultant Mickey Arthur is set to join the team on a permanent basis from the ICC World Cup 2023 scheduled to be held in India later this year.

This was revealed by Arthur himself during a podcast with BBC where he mentioned that his role would require him to hire support staff for them as they will be reporting to him only.

Moreover, the 54-year-old announced that his tenure with the team would begin after the county season ends as his commitments with Derbyshire County Club would culminate.

In his words, he will be there for the side during their World Cup campaign and later for the series against Australia.

"There would be some sort of consultancy role. It won’t be done on Zoom. I’ll get a support staff in for them and have that support staff report in to me. As soon as county season is finished, I will join up for the World Cup and tour of Australia later this year on a permanent basis,"

However, there was one moment where Arthur made a startling claim saying that he had kept in touch with all those players including Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi but now they have changed a lot as they have transformed into men with egos. Although, he said that in a joking manner.

"I kept in touch with all those players anyway. I've seen them grow up in front of me. The challenge is when I had them they were young boys," he added, before joking: "They've grown into men with egos now!"

Next month, the 2017 Champions Trophy-winning coach will visit Lahore for a meeting with players.
