New Zealand captain Kane Williamson received backlash from fans and critics alike for his run-a-ball knock against England, costing his side two points and a chance to secure a semi-finals berth.

The Kiwis remain firm favourites to qualify as table-toppers from Group 1 courtesy of a superior net run rate with one match in hand. Williamson is currently going through a rut in the T20 World Cup 2022 scoring merely 71 runs in four outings.

On the eve of the final Super 12 match, Williamson spoke about his own form.

According to DailyMail, the 32-year-old dwelled on improving his batting and being patient, despite being in a bad patch.

"You're always wanting to get better, and cricket is a pretty fickle game by its nature. You sort of do go through different periods where there's better rhythm and then other times where you're working harder and you're trying to make sure that you're making a valuable contribution.

So that's the focus... and staying a little bit patient with it, as well. The game forever challenges us."
