The ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 has not been too successful for several big names. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is one such player whose slow batting is under-fire, especially after his run-a-ball knock against England last evening.

Williamson scored a 40-ball 40, which hampered the BlackCaps' chase, with his side ending up losing the game by 20 runs. Since returning from his Tennis Elbow injury, the 32-year-old has struggled to score runs across formats, more so in the shortest format.

Glenn Phillips having a phenomenal World Cup, expressed his faith in Williamson.  According to India Today, the dashing middle-order batter stated that Willamson is gold batting at a position at No.3 and adds stability to the XI.

"Kane's gold at three for us. He understands situations and I know he had a little bit of a tough day today. But with his experience, the ability to take a game deep and command the middle overs is crucial. To be able to have myself, [James] Neesham, Daryl [Mitchell], as well as [Mitchell] Santner doing our role at the end, having Kane doing what he's doing at the moment.

We know that he's going to come right at some point, he always does and we can't necessarily judge him by one game,"

New Zealand face off against Ireland in a must-win match on Friday to secure a berth in the semi-finals.
