For many, the main ICC T20 World Cup 2022 begins tomorrow, when defending champions Australia meet neighbors New Zealand in a Super 12 Group 1 encounter at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Australia head into the tie as firm favourites, having won 10 out of the 18 T20Is they played against New Zealand and have an overwhelming 4-0 advantage at home.

Interestingly, New Zealand have not won a game of cricket on Australian soil since 2011.

Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson talking ahead of the clash, acknowledged his side's abysmal record in Australia but also revealed how they are not bothered by it.

Williamson maintained playing against the hosts' will help the BlackCaps gain momentum in the tournament, with all teams looking to play their best cricket.

"No, we haven't thought too much about that, obviously. A lot of those clashes have been against Australia, a very strong side and you come here to world events and you play a variety of opposition at all different grounds.

So yeah, for us it's just sticking to basics, you know, the style of cricket that's important to us and looking forward to the tournament. "

Apart from Australia and New Zealand, Group 1 also has nations like Afghanistan, England, and Sri Lanka, and the second Qualifier team from Group B.
